relacionados con la naturaleza.&nbsp; Se sitúa en una península dentro del embalse de Gabriel y Galán en Cáceres. Un lugar sometido a variaciones periódicas del nivel del agua. Por tanto, la localización del edificio se establece a partir de una cota segura. El programa, de unos 6.000 m2, se estira convirtiéndose en una estructura circular de 630 m. Se consigue así que el edificio se perciba siempre de un modo parcial. Es decir, en un fragmento se entiende la totalidad del edificio, pero la única forma posible de apreciar la totalidad es desde el aire. Esta gran escala diluye el proyecto en el entorno. El edificio se convierte en un artefacto ajeno al lugar, que se materializa mediante un sistema de construcción en seco con piezas ensambladas y se integra en el paisaje por contraste con el mismo. El edificio se levanta del suelo sin modificar la topografía. De ese modo, el impacto en el lugar es casi nulo. Se reducen los puntos de contacto estableciendo un único nivel elevado sobre el terreno, estableciendo una variada y compleja relación con el territorio. This project articulates a brief for an R&amp;D sports technology centre focused on nature-related activities. The site is located on a peninsula in the&nbsp; Gabriel y Galán Reservoir in Cáceres Province, with seasonal changes in the water level. The building's location is therefore set on a safe level. The roughly 6,000 m2 programme is stretched to produce a 630 m circular structure, ensuring that the building is always only partly visible. In other words, a fragment insinuates the entire building, although the only way to really appreciate the whole structure is from the air. This big scale dilutes the project into its surroundings. The building also becomes an artefact that seems alien to its location, materialized by means of a dry construction system with assembled components, integrated with the landscape by contrast. The structure rises off the ground without changing the topography, thus reducing its impact on the site. Contact points are minimised by defining a single raised level which creates a complex, varied spatial relationship with the immediate topography. First Prize. El reto de actuar en un lugar con una carga histórica y arqueológica tan importante ha supuesto trabajar desde el principio tanto con las trazas existentes como con las que existieron en época romana y que siguen teniendo vigencia. De ese modo, la obra responde a dos periodos históricos, recuperando un espacio de época romana que siempre sirvió de marco al templo de Diana y, a la vez, incorporando mediante un lenguaje contemporáneo aquellas necesidades programáticas —culturales, económicas y sociales— propias de nuestro tiempo, permitiendo que el nuevo centro cívico se mantenga vivo y cargado de uso. La estructura perimetral se coloca en el borde del solar, alejada del templo, liberando así el mayor espacio posible. De este modo se recupera el vacío existente en época romana respetando los elementos arqueológicos que constituyen el antiguo espacio sacro, que ahora quedan incorporados a la plaza. El proyecto se resuelve mediante una pieza perimetral, en forma de “L”, que resulta de la unión de una plataforma y una pantalla vertical cosiendo el borde con la ciudad. La plataforma se sitúa a una cota similar al pódium del templo y permite una nueva relación visitante-templo. La pantalla estructural pone en valor el templo, enmarcándolo. El proyecto más que un edificio es una estructura capaz de generar un nuevo estrato de ciudad cargado de programa. A la vez, proyecta una gran sombra sobre la plaza. The project recovers the area around the Temple of Diana in Mérida that was once the city forum or centre in the Roman era. The challenge of such an important historic and archaeological site led us to work from the outset with both the surviving traces and also those that existed in Roman times. The project thus tackles two historic periods: the restoration of a space dating back to Roman times that has always served as a frame for the Temple of Diana, and at the same time, employing a contemporary language to insert the typical cultural, economic and social requirements of our time, ensuring that the new civic centre will be lively and filled with uses. The perimeter structure is set on the edge of the site, away from the temple, to free up the largest possible volume. This restores the void that existed in the Roman period and respects the archaeological material that defines the sacred area, which is now part of the square. The project employs an L-shaped section, which results out of the interface between a platform and a vertical screen while stitching the boundary to the city. The platform is on a similar level to the temple podium, permitting a new relationship between visitors and the temple. The structural screen frames and thus highlights the temple. This project is more than a building. It is a structure with the potential to generate a new layer of the city that can be filled with programme. Frente al tipo convencional de nave industrial y explanada abierta, el edificio ocupa el perímetro cuadrado del solar en su totalidad y liberando un patio de maniobras interior, cuya dimensión viene dictada por el radio de giro de camiones de grandes dimensiones. Al interior, la circulación en anillo genera una secuencia de espacios concatenados que permiten recorrer todo el edificio de manera continua. El desplazamiento del patio respecto al centro del cuadrado mayor permite generar dos anchos de crujía: una de 6 metros donde se ubican los programas de administración y oficinas y otra de 9 metros que alberga las zonas industriales. En sección, la extrusión de cuatro volúmenes genera unas almenas industriales, cuyo interior alberga una secuencia de alturas libres y entreplantas. La estructura, de pórticos metálicos, se cubre con chapa minionda de acero galvanizado, una clara alusión al contexto local que permite definir con un único material tanto el interior como el exterior del edificio, generando un llamativo juego de brillos y contrastes. Hermético al exterior, los abstractos recortes rectangulares desplazados, resuelven el control solar mediante el troquelado de la propia chapa y desdibujan la escala de la construcción. This project works with the landscape surrounding Don Benito by looking beyond its innocuous context. Instead of a conventional industrial warehouse and an open esplanade, the building occupies&nbsp;the whole site with a private inner manoeuvre area whose dimensions are dictated by the turning radius of big lorries. Inside, the ringshaped circulation generates a sequence of concatenated spaces that allow the whole building to be traversed. The courtyard is shifted off-centre from the big square to generate two bay widths: one measuring 6 metres for the administration and offices, and another measuring 9 metres for the industrial zones. In section, the extrusion of four 10 m tall volumes generates industrial ‘battlements’ that contain a sequence of full height and mezzanine spaces. A striking variation of brightness and contrasts is created by cladding the metal frame structure with microcorrugated galvanized steel sheeting, a clear reference to the local context. This also allows the interior and the exterior of the building to be defined with a single material. Despite the building’s hermetic external aspect, abstract and rectangular offset cuts with perforations in the sheeting material&nbsp;provide controlled sun-lighting and at the same time blurr the building’s scale. Para ello se hace necesario mantener el aspecto tanto exterior como interior del Castillo de Luna, especialmente su volumetría y perfil característicos, evitando las interferencias que puedan surgir entre el uso residencial de la hospedería y el cultural del castillo. La intervención se realiza en la línea fortificada del “Recinto de los Portugueses”, situada en la parte baja del castillo. Se resuelve el proyecto mediante una operación clara: sustracción de materia. Así, el edificio queda “excavado” dentro del perfil del baluarte, totalmente integrado en el terreno sin competir con el alzado del castillo. El vaciado del terreno aloja el programa propio de la Hospedería, aprovechando su cercanía a la fortaleza y las vistas privilegiadas sobre el pueblo y los alrededores, debido a su elevada cota. Se pretende conseguir que el huésped perciba que está dentro del castillo y su entorno, no “cerca de” ni “al lado de”. De este modo, no hacemos un edificio de nueva planta en la ladera del castillo sino que el proyecto surge del lugar adaptándose a él. This project preserves, restores and enhances numerous architectural, historical and cultural components along with the heritage value of Luna Castle as a new Tourist Inn. To do so, we had to maintain its exterior and interior appearance, particularly its characteristic volume and profile, and try to avoid interferences between the residential uses of the inn and the cultural aspects of the castle. The operation was focused on the fortified line of the ‘Portuguese Precinct’, in the lower part of the castle. The project is resolved with a clear subtraction operation. The building is ‘excavated’ into the profile of the bastion, totally integrated into the existing structure without competing with the castle’s facade. This excavation contains the programme for the inn. It takes adventage of the proximity to the fortress and the priviledged views of the town and the surrounding countryside due to its hight altitude. We want guests to feel that they are inside the castle and its environment, not ‘near’ or ‘alongside’ it. The project thus emerges from and adapts to this special location. Awarded. Se configura como un gran basamento de hormigón sobre el que apoya una cubierta ligera. Esta cubierta se construye mediante una estructura de cerchas metálicas que liberan, en su parte inferior, la sala principal del proyecto: un espacio diáfano y de uso flexible. El edificio comprime su altura y se incrusta en el terreno para evitar interrumpir la conexión visual del pueblo con el pantano. La normativa local obliga a&nbsp; respetar la alineación del solar, dando lugar a una planta con una geometría irregular y compleja. Para resolver esta geometría definimos un espacio central a modo de plaza donde se desarrolla el programa principal. Su dimensión viene dada por el radio de giro necesario para operar con las canoas. Constituye un espacio polivalente donde se desarrollan diferentes programas como formación, entrenamientos o actos públicos. El programa secundario se establece en el espacio restante del solar, es decir, el espacio intersticial entre la sala central y el límite del edificio. La sección salva el desnivel existente en el solar y permite el desarrollo de dos accesos diferenciados. Un hueco de grandes dimensiones permite el paso de luz al interior y aloja la esbelta rampa, que colgada mediante cables conecta el plano inferior con la plataforma superior. La propia estructura genera la imagen del edificio. El edificio se convierte en una delicada pieza industrial que deja ver la actividad que allí se genera. This Rowing pavilion faces onto the Alange reservoir. It has a large concrete base that supports a lightweight roof, built from a metallic truss structure with the main space of the project on the lower level: a open space available for flexible uses. The height of the building is compressed and encrusted in the ground so as not to interrupt the visual link between the town and the reservoir. The local regulations obliged the project to follow the allotment’s alignment, resulting in a plan with a complex, irregular geometry. In order to work with this geometry we defined a central space as a square where the main part of the brief is installed. Its dimensions are given by the turn radius needed to manoeuvre the canoes. This is a multipurpose zone for different types of activities such as coaching, training and public events. The secondary programme is installed in the space left over on the site, i.e., the gap between the central hall and the boundary of the building. The section works with the slope of the lot and permits the construction of two entrances. A large gap feeds light into the building and houses the narrow ramp suspended on cables that connect the lower level to the platform above. First Prize. Nos centramos en el proyecto que presumiblemente mejor personifica el diálogo entre trazas opuestas: el Anillo. La mayoría de edificios públicos en el mundo están equipados con cámaras de vigilancia. Desde un marco arquitectónico, observan, graban y emiten lo que hacemos, cuándo nos movemos y cómo interactuamos en sociedad. De este modo la arquitectura se ha convertido en un estudio de grabación. Nuestra propuesta para la XV bienal de Venecia explora de manera radical este nuevo contexto. El proyecto de El Anillo se expone, tal y como es, en tiempo real, emitiendo en directo desde las cámaras de seguridad del edificio y proyectándolo en una gran pantalla en el Corderie del Arsenale de Vencia. Este enfoque cuestiona el modelo tradicional de exhibir arquitectura, en el que los proyectos se presentan como objetos, a través de la muestra de fotografías y maquetas. Por el contrario, este nuevo escenario presenta el edificio de El Anillo como cuerpo vivo que sólo puede ser aprehendido cuando la dimensión tiempo, la experiencia de los usuarios y la atmósfera del lugar son incorporadas. The interest in territory, both natural and artificial, and its alteration through the use of geometry provides the basis for our studio work. The constructed project that presumably best personifies the dialogue between opposing traces is the Ring. Therefore, the proposal focuses on this specific project. Most public buildings worldwide are equipped with surveillance cameras. From an architectural framework, they observe, record and broadcast what we do, when we move and how we interact in society. This way, architecture has become a recording studio. Our installation radically explores this new context. The project of The Ring is shown, as it is, in real time, broadcasted live from the building's security cameras and projected on a large screen in the Corderie del Arsenale de Vencia. This approach questions the traditional model of exhibiting architecture, in which projects are presented as objects, through the exhibition of beautiful photographs and models. Para ello, se decide ubicar todo el programa público y de esparcimiento de la nueva Hospedería en el interior del convento. En el interior del edificio, se limpia la tabiquería de las crujías para crear espacios diáfanos y de uso flexible, sin divisiones fijas. El programa privado, constituido principalmente por habitaciones, se aloja en el baluarte circundante, para lo que se realiza una operación de vaciado gracias a la cual se configuran los tres espacios principales que estructuran el proyecto: el edificio del convento, el baluarte con las habitaciones y el patio intersticial de circulación y relación entre los dos primeros, que es a su vez una calle que se integra en la trama urbana de Olivenza. Las habitaciones se conciben como 'celdas' abiertas a patios privados por los que se accede independientemente: habitaciones-patio. Se insertan en grietas a modo de dedos que se abren en el terreno llegando a formar una estructura de peine. Los patios privados pueden ser configurados por el propio usuario, haciéndolos transparentes u opacos según se desee, e iluminando las habitaciones. De este modo, y dentro del propósito de respeto a las pre-existencias, se evita abrir huecos en la muralla para iluminar las estancias. The brief for the San Juan de Dios Convent called for the preservation of its unique spatial structure. We therefore decided to install the inn’s entire public and leisure programme within the convent. Inside the building, the bay partitions have been removed to create open, flexible spaces with no fixed divisions. The private programme, primarily guest rooms, is inserted in the enveloping bulwark, which was gutted to create the three main spaces that structure the project: the convent building, the bastion with the guest rooms and the intermediate circulation courtyard, a street that blends into the urban grid of Olivenza and connects the former two spaces. The rooms are conceived as ‘cells’ that open onto private individual patios: courtyard-rooms. These patio/rooms are inserted finger-like into cracks that open up in the ground to form a comb structure. They can be configured by guests as transparent or opaque, or be used as a lighting source for the rooms. As part of the plan to respect the pre-existing elements, this decision obviates the need to open voids for lighting in the walls. Awarded.
