Space of young creation

El antiguo Depósito de Agua se componía de dos grandes aljibes, divididos entre sí por un grueso muro, y de una Torre de planta octogonal que sobresale del volumen de los depósitos. La actuación consiste en limpiar y rehabilitar, respetando la estructura y morfología propia del edificio original. El programa queda recogido en la Torre anexa, dentro de un gran cilindro, consiguiendo así una nueva configuración espacial capaz de cumplir las necesidades de programa, dando especial importancia a la flexibilidad del espacio. El Espacio para la Creación Joven adapta el espacio original, concebido para contener agua, creando huecos: se horadan las bóvedas para lograr una buena iluminación natural del espacio interior y se perfora el muro de separación de los aljibes en cuatro puntos, para crear las conexiones y las comunicaciones necesarias entre los espacios y permitir una correcta circulación, creando cuatro pasos circulares entre ellos. De este modo conseguimos un gran espacio diáfano permitiendo la división del mismo en distintas zonas, cuando sea necesario, mediante textiles.


The old water tank was composed by two large reservoirs, divided by a thick wall, and an octagonal tower that rises over the volume of the deposits. The intervention consists in cleaning and rehabilitating the existing building respecting its structure and morphology. The attached tower contains the programme, inside a large cylinder. Thus, we achieve a new spatial configuration capable of meeting the needs of the programme emphasizing on the flexibility of the space. The Space of Young Creation adapts creating holes in the original space which was designed to hold water. The vaults are pierced to get good natural lighting in the interior space and the wall between the reservoirs is punched in four points in order to create connections and necessary communications within the space and to ensure a functionung circulation. As a result, we get an open, bright and illuminated space that can be divided by curtains if needed.
