Tomando la alineación y la escala de las arquerías existentes, la pieza se integra en el entorno
configurándose como basamento de la ciudad contigua y
generando un perímetro de usos a modo de loggia, que se abre al espacio público. El proyecto se articula en torno a un vacío cuadrado, que plantea una dualidad con el vacío circular de la turntable. Esta operación permite acotar un espacio público protegido de las vías del tren, que está llamado a ser el escenario principal de los diversos
eventos del Pôle Muséal.
La operación de vaciado se enfatiza trasladando el espacio cuadrado
a un nivel inferior como un gran hall
iluminado cenitalmente por su crujía perimetral. Por esta misma crujía descienden dos grandes escaleras mecánicas enfrentadas, cada una correspondiente a un
museo.
La neutralidad de la geometría y la proporción de las salas de exposición generan
una armonía entre el espacio expositivo y los objetos
expuestos.
La amplitud de las salas permite albergar cualquier
formato, y da la posibilidad de subdividir el espacio sin perder la continuidad
de la exposición.
Taking the alignment and the scale of the
existing arcades, the museum is
integrated into the environment configuring itself as the base of the adjacent
city and generating a perimeter of uses as a loggia, which open up to the
public space. The project is structured around a square vacuum, which
poses a duality with the circular vacuum of the turntable. This operation
allows to delimit a public space protected from the train tracks, which is called
to be the main stage of the various events of the Pôle Muséal. The
emptying operation is emphasized by moving the patio to
a
lower
level, as a large hall lit from above by its perimeter bay. Two large escalators are attached to this open space, each one belonging to one of the museums. The
neutrality of the geometry and the proportion of the exhibition halls generate
a harmony between the exhibition space and the exhibits. The spaciousness of
the rooms allows to display any kind of format, and enables a further subdivision of the the space without losing the continuity of the exhibition.
