José María Sánchez García was born in
Don Benito (Badajoz) in 1975. He graduated from Madrid School of Architecture (ETSAM)
in 2002, and in 2016 was recognized as Phd
Doctor in Architecture by the ETSAM for his
thesis entitled, 'The Bath Case'.
In 2006 he opened his studio in
Madrid, which has designed several winning projects for public architecture
competitions.
He is Titular Professor of Design at
the Madrid School of Architecture and Visiting Professor at the Academy of
Architecture in Mendrisio (Switzerland), at the ETH University in Zurich and at
the IUAV in Venice.
It is
currently one of the architecture studios with the most international
projection. His work has received National and International prizes such as the First Prize
BSI Swiss Architectural Award, Switzerland; First Prize AR+D Architecture
Review Awards, London; Architectural Record's Design Vanguard Award, New York;
First Prize Ibero-American Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism and First
Prize Spanish Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism Prize. He’s been elected as
Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) International and Honorary Fellow.
His projects have been published by international and national index
reviews, such as el Croquis, Arquitectura Viva, Casabella, Architectural
Review, a+u, Detail, Azure, On Diseño, Architekture Aktueal, 2G o Summa.
